Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James hit back at Zlatan Ibrahimovic on Friday and vowed never to remain silent on social causes after being criticized by AC Milan forward for sticking his nose in politics.
Ibrahimovic in an interview on Thursday said that athletes like four-time NBA champion James, who has been one of the NBA’s main voices against racial injustice and police brutality, should avoid making the mistake of s ” get involved in political affairs and focus only on sport.
“I will never be silent about things that are wrong. I preach about my people and I preach about equality, social justice, racism, voter suppression – things that happen in our community, ”James told reporters after Lakers’ 102-93 win against the Portland Trail Blazers.
“I will use my platform to continue to shed light on everything that is happening in this country and in the world. There’s no way I’m sticking with sports because I understand how powerful this platform and my voice is.

James also pointed to comments Ibrahimovic made in 2018 when the Sweden striker claimed that “undercover racism” caused the media to treat him differently from players who had traditional names like Andersson or Svensson.
“This is the guy who said in Sweden, he was talking about the same things, because his last name was not a last name (traditional Swedish), he felt like there was racism” , said James.
“I’m talking about a very educated mind. I’m kind of the wrong guy to talk to, because I’m doing my homework.
