Paris St Germain striker Neymar has been suspended for his next two Ligue 1 matches after being sent off in the 1-0 league loss to Lille on Saturday, the disciplinary committee of the French Professional League (LFP) announced on Wednesday. .

Neymar was sent off when he landed a second yellow card for pushing Tiago Djalo, who responded with a crass rant and also received a red card, as Lille edged PSG to take a three-point lead in Ligue 1 .

The LFP granted Neymar a three-match suspension, but said one match would be suspended, meaning the Brazilian would miss Saturday’s trip to Strasbourg and Saint-Etienne’s visit the following weekend.

The LFP added that Djalo would be banned for two games, with one game suspended.

Neymar, who was making his first Ligue 1 start in more than two months, has been sent off three times in his last 15 Ligue 1 appearances dating back to the end of last season.
