MANILA, Philippines – Filipino bet Erleen Ando won three medals in the women’s 64kg division of the 2021 Asian Weightlifting Championships in Uzbekistan on Tuesday.

Ando won the silver medal after lifting 213 kilograms combined, while Wen-Huei Chen of Chinese Taipei topped the division after totaling a combined weight of 228 kg.

The Philippine representative won the silver medal in clean and jerk at 119 kg, with Chen taking the gold with a lift of 128 kg.

Chen also won gold in the snatch lifting a 100kg weight, Ando settling for third place at 94kg and Han Sojin winning silver at 96kg.

Ando’s medal collection took the Philippines’ score to six in the competition after Mary Flor Diaz won three silver medals in the women’s 45kg division.

Rio 2016 Olympics silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz secured her spot for Tokyo but failed to win a medal in the continental competition after finishing fourth in the women’s 55kg.

Diaz just needed to join the Asian Championship to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics.
